Seasonal Menu Spotlight: Late Summer Into Fall

This is the first in an ongoing series where we spotlight the dishes, ingredients, and menu pairings we're leaning into each season. First up: the late-summer-into-fall stretch — still warm enough for bright, fresh flavors, but starting to make room for heartier dishes as the weather (eventually) turns.

Why We Menu Seasonally

Great catering isn't just about picking crowd-pleasers — it's about serving food that actually makes sense for the moment. Produce tastes better in season, menus feel more intentional when they reflect the time of year, and honestly, guests notice. Whether you're planning a wedding through Table & Toast or a corporate event, we build menus collaboratively around what's fresh, what's flavorful right now, and the overall feel of your gathering.

What's on Our Radar This Season

Fresh & Bright: Elote Salad Our Mexican corn salad — roasted corn, cilantro, serrano peppers, crumbled cotija, Mexican crema, lime juice, and a touch of chili powder — is one of our go-to late-summer sides. It's got the sweetness of peak-season corn with just enough heat to keep it interesting, and it works equally well at a backyard wedding or an office lunch.

Caprese, Done Simply Sliced roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a balsamic glaze — caprese salad is at its best when tomatoes are actually good, which makes late summer the ideal window. It's a simple dish, but a well-timed one makes all the difference.

Transitional Comfort: Gnocchi alla Sorrentina As we start easing toward fall, we like leaning into dishes that bridge the seasons — potato gnocchi tossed with Italian sausage, roasted cherry tomato sauce, ricotta, and fresh mozzarella. It's still light enough for a warm evening but has the comfort-food undertones that make sense as the season shifts.

A Nod to What's Coming: Roasted Brussels Sprouts We're not quite in fall yet, but roasted Brussels sprouts with balsamic glaze are already showing up on our radar for the next few months of menu planning — a preview of the heartier sides that'll take over as the weather cools.

Building a Seasonal Menu for Your Event

If you're planning an event in the next few months, this is a great window to lean into fresh, in-season flavors before the menu shifts toward fall and winter comfort food. We're happy to talk through what's tasting best right now and build a spread around it — whether that's a few seasonal salads added to a corporate lunch or a full seasonal menu for a Table & Toast celebration.
